By Interim Mill Creek Communications and Marketing Coordinator Bill Craig, March 27, 2020.
City Manager Michael Ciaravino very recently hired Jeff Balentine as the city's new finance director.
Balentine brings 15 years of local government experience to the city. He comes to Mill Creek from the City of Granite Falls where he was Director of Finance and Human Resources.
His background and skills range from the non-profit sector to manufacturing and service-related commercial industries.
He has local government support experience with an emphasis on finance, human resources, information technology (IT), marketing, and contract management.
Early in his career, Balentine served in the United States Army and earned a bachelor's degree in business management.
He has worked in finance, procurement, operations, supply chain, and accounting for some Fortune 500 companies.
In 2005, Balentine founded and managed his own company focused on local government consulting, finance, contract and administration support, federal government training, federal government IT administration, web design and engineering support, mobile gaming applications, and food service.
Ciaravino said he is impressed that Balentine has "rolled up his sleeves" and immediately provided a valuable impact to the city, supporting the departments, providing IT support, and financial expertise, especially during the current health crisis.
Ciaravino also noted Balentine's ability to jump in and successfully develop relationships with the city’s team.
"We are pleased with the breadth of knowledge and skill that Jeffrey brings to the city of Mill Creek,” Ciaravino said.
He went on to say, “His knowledge of local government operations are second to none and the residents of Mill Creek will reap the benefits of that knowledge. We are expecting great things out of Jeffrey."
