Mill Creek Communication and Marketing Director Joni Kirk is looking for community members to represent their neighborhoods in a focus group providing insight on key city topics.
This focus group will meet approximately four times a year for one hour, beginning on January 16, 2018.
The City of Mill Creek had some success this year with a similar focus group targeting homeowners association presidents. This group had two meetings, one in June and one in September.
According to the meeting minutes (see attachment) for these focus groups, issues discussed include: managing mature neighborhood trees, business sign codes, additional retail stores, high-density housing, crime, parking, traffic, a Mill Creek farmer’s market, and a larger library.
At the September 26, 2017, city council meeting Kirk said that although she was pleased with the information gathered at the Homeowners Association Presidents Focus Group, it would be very nice to have additional people involved.
Kirk said, “We want to expand our coverage a bit more because not every person in Mill Creek lives in an hoa (home owners association) neighborhood.”
She went on to say, “The more people who are represented we will hear the issues more broadly that impact the city. It’s very important for us to know what people are saying and be able to respond to their issues and address them.”
The city would ideally like to have at least one person from each subdivision or apartment in the new Neighborhoods Focus Group.
Those wishing to participate in the new focus group should contact Joni Kirk by email or by phone at 425-921-5732.
