From a City of Mill Creek News Release.
A $1,000 educational scholarship can be a tremendous help to a young student. High school students that live in Mill Creek can apply by February 9, 2018, to become the City’s nominee for one of six such statewide scholarships.
The City of Mill Creek is now accepting applications to find its nominee for the Association of Washington Cities (AWC) Center for Quality Communities Scholarship.
Each city and town within Washington State can nominate one student for the scholarship. Six $1,000 scholarships will be awarded across the state to high school students who plan to pursue a post-secondary degree in fall 2018.
In addition to competing for one of the $1,000 scholarships, the nominee chosen by the City of Mill Creek will receive a $500 scholarship from the city. All scholarship funds will be sent directly to the institution that the nominee attends in 2018.
Students interested in applying for the scholarship must be:
- Involved (or have been involved) with a city government, community and/or school leadership activity;
- Eligible to graduate from high school, completed home school or received a GED in spring/summer 2018;
- Live within the city limits of Mill Creek;
- Plan to continue education in the 2018-2019 academic year at an accredited college or trade school on a half-time or more basis.
Application materials can be found at http://cfqc.org/scholarships. The completed application and essay are due to the City by February 9, 2018.
