Mill Creek Women’s Club welcomed the informative, humorous King 5 TV investigative reporter, Jesse Jones, at our first fall General Membership Meeting/Luncheon on September 25, 2013 at the Mill Creek Country Club.

Jones outlined a list of safety tips regarding personal security from scammers on the phone and internet. Jesse also revealed a few of his own mantras, “To serve is to lead. Giving back always provides perspective. Your bad day is someone else’s best day in the world.”

We are so grateful we were able to “GET JESSE!"

On this day, we also heard from Maizy Brown, a wonderful Pathways for Women success.

On October 16 our membership meeting featured another former Working Wardrobe and YWCA Housing recipient, Cynthia Simmons. Inspiring and honest, this program presenting her story enlightened and touched us. Our popular Book Exchange and Pat Lawrence’s sale of her “Pathway Jewels” benefiting Pathways rounded out the day.

“THANKS FOR GIVING,” our Annual Auction with 100% of the proceeds helping fund the YWCA counseling program for women and children of domestic violence, will be held on November 20, 2013 at the Mill Creek Country Club. A HUGE thank you to all of the local vendors who have donated goods and services. Many thanks to our hard-working Chairs, Vicki Wellman and Kathleen Corbiere and their committee.

Time for some fun! Christmas Shopping in Downtown Seattle! On December 11 the bus will pick us up at 10:15 AM and deliver us to the Downtown Nordstrom. A no-host lunch at Gordon Biersch at Pacific Place will be followed by a holiday shopping frenzy! (At your own pace, of course). Maybe tea or a cocktail in the gorgeously decorated lobby at the Fairmont Olympic, maybe visit the Gingerbread House display, maybe just check everyone off your list. Whatever you choose, it will be so much more fun with so much company! We will return at 5 PM.

As with all Socials, reservations with payment are required (Cost of the bus is $25).

Future Socials include Fireside Reads at the University Bookstore in Mill Creek Town Center on January 21, 2014, followed by complimentary appetizers and wine at the Rusty Pelican.

On February 23, 2014, The Driftwood Players at the Wade James Theatre in Edmonds will be presenting a matinee performance of “Steel Magnolias.”

Socials are a great way to get to know each other, and members are always welcome to bring a guest.

At the December 18th General Membership Meeting and Luncheon, a festive variety of music and Christmas classics will be performed by Lolly Brasseur and the Jolly Bees. This entertaining quartet of four sisters includes two harps, a violin, and a cello. There may even be some sing-a-longs! And to make the day even more exciting, Santa will be there to listen to your Christmas wishes and pose for photos with you and your friends!

We will be collecting Crock-Pots, utensils, and non-perishable food for YWCA Pathways’ women and children in temporary housing (motels) with no cooking facilities.

Mill Creek Women’s Club was founded in 1983, and we are joyously commemorating our 30th ANNIVERSARY! What began as an intimate social club has blossomed into a thriving social and philanthropic endeavor! We are so proud!

With the seasonal change, it’s time to re-organize our over-flowing closets and donate new or very gently used work appropriate winter clothes, shoes, purses and accessories to Working Wardrobe. Personal care items are always in demand, as well as department store style shopping bags. You may contact Philanthropy Chair Kathy Vail at 425 967-3640 for more information.

If you live in the Greater Mill Creek area, you are cordially invited to join our team! Mill Creek Women’s Club is “Women helping women through community, philanthropy and friendship.”

You may contact Membership Chair Sue Ramsey at 425 385-2016 or take a look at for more details.

Annual dues are $30 and we meet monthly September through May at the beautiful Mill Creek Country Club. Come join us!
