Snohomish County Fire District 7 will hold a free homeschool lesson on Tuesday, April 7th, from 11:00 am to 11:30 am.
Join us for our third Facebook Live Homeschool Lesson - Firefighter Chemistry.
It's time for more experiments! Learn about acids, bases, and pH while firefighters from our county HAZMAT team discuss chemistry and how it helps them protect citizens from hazardous materials.
They will conduct a science experiment so be ready to review some key words discussed a few weeks ago during our last experiment!
The lesson will be LIVE within this event. Make sure to click on "discussions" to find the feed and comments. We will also have it streaming live on our main Facebook page.
As the spread of the COVID-19 virus continues to impact our region, all public events, school visits, and station tours have been canceled for the fire district. Like most fire agencies, these are the main ways prevention messages are taught to kids and families.
The fire district is planning to teach an online homeschool lesson each Tuesday on Facebook Live throughout the school closure. The lessons will focus on elementary math and science concepts related to the fire service, as well as safety topics.
Kids and parents can join the lesson, ask firefighters questions, and be “assigned homework” all in an effort to keep kids learning and engaged. Lessons will be posted to the District’s Facebook page.
The lessons will be posted to the Fire District’s website after the live session.
Additional educational resources have been compiled that can be found on the District’s website for parents to use as learning activities while children are out of school.
