Internet fireworks purchases from unlicensed vendors illegal in Washington State

The State Fire Marshal’s Office is reminding everyone that fireworks orders can only be placed on the Internet when purchased from a licensed Washington State fireworks retailer. Also the fireworks must be picked up at the retail fireworks stand during the legal sales period.

From a Washington State Fire Marshal's Office news release.

The State Fire Marshal’s Office is reminding everyone that the purchase of fireworks from unlicensed wholesalers or persons on the internet is illegal.

Orders for fireworks may only be placed over the internet when purchased from a licensed Washington State fireworks retailer, but fireworks must be picked up at the retail fireworks stand during the legal sales period.

Celebrate the 2018 Fourth of July safely and legally. Know the dates and times when fireworks are allowed in your community.

Also, be sure the fireworks you purchase are legal to possess and discharge.

Personal fireworks require personal responsibility. Remember the three “Bs” of fireworks safety:

  • Be Prepared - Have water nearby and put pets indoors.
  • Be Safe - Only adults should light fireworks.
  • Be Responsible - Clean up fireworks debris.

For more information about fireworks safety or the fireworks laws for your area, visit the State Fire Marshal’s fireworks webpage at http://www.wsp.wa.gov/fireworks.
