January 2014 news and events from Mill Creek Women's Club

Many thanks to Lolly Brasseur and the Jolly Bees for soothing our souls with the calming, peaceful, heavenly Christmas concert that actually brought tears to many members and left others feeling as if they had relaxed at the spa… Just out of this world!

Wow, that is a BIG check! At the Mill Creek Women’s Club December 18, 2013 Membership Meeting/Luncheon the $31,780.00 proceeds from their Annual Auction held in November was very proudly presented to the YWCA representatives attending: Senior Regional Director of Snohomish County, Mary Anne Dillon-Bryant and Regional Community Affairs Coordinator, Luanne Kunz.

One hundred percent of those funds contribute directly to the YWCA Children’s Domestic Violence Program. No overhead costs are deducted. What an impressive feat!

What a remarkable Auction Team and extremely generous membership! Our fearless Auction Committee Chairs, Vicki Wellman and Kathleen Corbiere announced they are ready and willing to go for it again! YES!!! That same day 50 Crock-Pots and many bags of non-perishable food were also donated to aid women in emergency housing without cooking facilities.

The YWCA Pathways Program reaches over 1000 women yearly in Snohomish County by focusing on promoting self-sufficiency for women of all ages, races, and faiths. Our Women’s Club helps support Pathways through auctions, raffles, donations, and volunteering.

The Mill Creek City Council along with Mayor Mike Todd, on their behalf and that of the citizens of Mill Creek, recognized and honored Mill Creek Women’s Club at the December 10, 2013 Council meeting.

The Proclamation:

“FOR THEIR OUTSTANDING SERVICE AND DEDICATION TO ENHANCING THE LIVES OF WOMEN IN OUR COMMUNITY” was read by Council Member Donna Michelson as she presented the award with Kathy Nielsen, also a Council Member. As Women’s Club was commended for true dedication and making a difference in the lives of women, President Judy Cromwell responded, “We really are here not only to enhance the Women’s Club and Pathways for Women, but also to enhance Mill Creek itself. We get our name out there as much as we can to support our city.

Cromwell and past president Susan Mayer accepted the Proclamation and thanked the city for their support. This is the Club’s 30th Anniversary! What an amazing tribute!
