Kiwanis of Mill Creek’s Kindness Wall - Have a Clean Up Party

Our “Kindness Wall” is intended to bring acts of kindness to the community and to create bonds. This week's act of kindness is about looking for opportunities to interact and engage safely with your people. One thing that can be done in socially distanced groups are clean-up parties.

The mission of the Kiwanis of Mill Creek is to empower our members to improve our community by making lasting differences in the lives of children.

This starts with kindness. Kindness to each other creates the bond of community, and community helps us all lead safe, happy and fulfilling lives!

Our “Kindness Wall” is intended to bring acts of kindness to the community, but since we are all social distancing, we share our Kindness Wall with you – virtually.

This week’s act of kindness!

Ah, spring has sprung!  One week into the spring of 2021 and you can already tell that we are getting ready for a fresh start.

It’s been a year since the COVID lockdown began, but there is hope coming, and at this time of year, hope springs eternal!

This is a time for reflection, a time for awakening and a time to get outdoors and reconnect with our community. It’ll be different this year; social distancing, reduced occupancy and mask wearing are the new norms. But it will be so much better than spring 2020; we won’t be shut in!!

Look for opportunities to interact and engage safely with your people. Gather with friends and family as available and do it appropriately. But by all means, do these things…it’s good for our souls!

One thing that can be done in socially distanced groups are clean-up parties. Spring is a time when we come out of our homes and get to work on cleaning the winter out of our yards. The winter hit us everywhere, including our community areas, so consider hosting or joining a clean-up party near you!

Now, it’s important to remember to do this safely; socially distanced, wearing a mask, wearing gloves and washing hands. Sometimes, these parties can yield some pretty nasty things (think needles and such) and care should be taken.

If there are hazardous items found, notify the authorities of the area in which you are cleaning.

On a side note, the Kiwanis Club of Mill Creek will be partnering with the City for a Mill Creek Day of Service on April 24th; reach out to us if you would like to participate!!

We would love to hear about how you were able to take this simple act of kindness and make a difference! Please share in the reader comments section here and on your social media pages. You can find us on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/Kiwanisofmillcreek/

The Kiwanis of Mill Creek meets the first and third Wednesdays of each month at 6:00 pm. While we are under Covid-19 restrictions, our meetings are held via Zoom.

Once we can again gather, our meetings are held at the Mill Creek City Council Chambers, 15728 Main Street, Mill Creek WA.

If you are interested in attending a Zoom meeting, please email kiwanisofmillcreek@gmail.com.
