At the end of September a developer submitted an application to build an indoor recreational complex in Mill Creek near the intersection of Dumas Road and Bothell-Everett Highway (SR 527).
The proposed 96,370 square foot indoor recreational complex on almost seven acres includes two soccer fields, a warm-up field, eight bowling lanes, laser tag, inflatable play area, party rooms, kitchen and dining areas along with storage and administrative offices.
Parking spaces for 382 vehicles are included in the plan. Access to the facility would be from Dumas Road, and a shared Gateway Shopping Center driveway.
A similar development in the same area of Mill Creek was considered in 2012. However, the previous proposal was for a mixed-use recreational, commercial, and residential complex, which was not allowed by the city’s zoning.
The Mill Creek City Council didn’t want to approve additional multi-family housing on the site, so planning for the mixed-use facility didn’t go forward.
As with the previous proposal, the new development application identifies Arena Sports as the owner/operator of the facility. They operate four similar facilities located in Redmond, Issaquah, and Seattle.
After a thorough review by Mill Creek’s planners, they determined the application to be complete on Monday, October 24th.
City regulations require that the Mill Creek Hearing Examiner make a decision on the proposal within 120 days of that date, which is January 29, 2017.
