Over $17,000 raised for YWCA Pathways for Women

For the fifth consecutive year the Mill Creek Women's Club November program featured a live and silent auction to benefit YWCA “Pathways for Women.”

Members of the club and local merchants generously donated well over 100 items for the live and silent auction. A kindle, artwork, jewelry, wine and home décor were just a few of the items donated. Club member, Sue Kincaid offered a condo in Maui for 5 nights, there was a 2 hour house cleaning by Molly Maid, a YWCA Gift Certificate for a family membership for a year , a beautiful hand made quilt by Club President Susan Mayer and home made soups and desserts for every month of the year. Club member Mary Kay Voss once again did an excellent and entertaining job as emcee for the event.

The Cedar Room at the Mill Creek Country Club was filled to capacity with members and guests eager to bid on their favorite items. Mimosas and a delicious four course lunch added to the enjoyment of the event.

Over $17,000 was raised at the auction including a generous donation of $1,000 from Mill Creek Rotary.

The YWCA will be purchasing dressers for the families in transitional housing at the Women’s Temporary Housing Facility in Lynnwood. They will also purchase tables so the families will be able to sit down as a family to have their meals and the kids will be able to do their homework at a table instead of having to do it on their laps. Both of these items will make life a little easier while the family is in transition. The auction will also support children of domestic violence programs, working woman’s wardrobe program and mental health counseling.

The YWCA Pathways for Women program reaches over 1,000 women each year in Snohomish County, helping them to help themselves and their families become independent. It provides emergency shelter as a safe haven for women and their children and helps families that have become homeless to rebuild their lives.

The Mill Creek Women's Club has over 35 volunteers each and every week supporting the YWCA Pathways for Women Working Wardrobe. This is a boutique style shopping experience for women in transition who are looking for an outfit for their next job interview.

The working wardrobe always needs donations of work appropriate clothing, purses, shoes, jewelry, socks, toiletries, etc. Please contact Pat Lawrence at 425-948-7066 if you have items to donate.

The Mill Creek Women's Club is a wonderful social and philanthropic club that meets on the 3rd Wednesday of each month, September through May at 10.30 am for a short meeting followed by a program and lunch at the Mill Creek Country Club. It is a place for women from the greater Mill Creek area to get together, meet new friends and give back to the community.
