The Mill Creek Senior Center will host a free Money Smarts for Older Adults class on Monday, February 26, 2018, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. The instructor will cover identity theft, medical identify theft, and scams targeting veterans.
You must register for this class if you want to attend.
Money Smarts for Older Adults is an instructor-led series of classes developed jointly by the FDIC and Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.
The classes help adults age 62 or older identify common types of elder financial exploitation, such as imposter scams and identity theft, and is designed to inform them and their caregivers about ways to prevent, identify, and respond to financial exploitation.
Also included is information on how older adults can plan for a secure financial future and make informed financial decisions with confidence.
Here are the class objectives:
- How to guard against identity theft.
- Awareness of medical identity theft.
- Awareness of veteran specific scams.
