From a Rotary Club of Mill Creek press release.
The February 2021 Students of the Month were selected with the theme of Art.
The challenges of Zoom teaching are numerous, and they are even more evident in the classes where hands-on activities are unavoidable. Nevertheless, Yeeun has always shown exemplary work ethic by turning the high-quality artwork on time.
In this class, the students are creating a portfolio of 15 pieces on the topic they choose. They have to show mastery of drawing and painting skills, material exploration, and the thought process throughout their work.
Yeeun has shown a true mindset of a designer. Her sophisticated ability to problem-solve through inquiry and research stands out and her way of communicating through her artwork is clear and original.
In the breakout rooms on Zoom, Yeeun provides constructive and helpful feedback to other students and is always ready to help. Other students benefit from her engagement in the discussion because they learn from her thoughtful responses.
Yeeun’s maturity, hard work, and dedication has been impressive in her AP Art class.
The Rotary Club of Mill Creek honors Students of the Month from Henry M. Jackson High School, Archbishop Thomas J. Murphy High School, and Sno-Isle TECH Skills Center at the second weekly meeting of each month during the school year.
After being chosen by the principal and staff of their school based on the month's theme, the students and their families are invited to the meeting where each student speaks about their accomplishments and receives a Rotary Club of Mill Creek Student of the Month Certificate.
Rotary Club members can also ask questions of each student about their interests, goals and future plans.
Although the meetings are held via ZOOM during COVID, hopefully the students will soon be able to return to live meetings.
