Local small businesses need our support!
On Small Business Saturday, November 24, 2018, shop locally to ensure our local businesses can continue to provide quality goods and services in Mill Creek.
According to Wikipedia, Small Business Saturday was started by American Express in 2010 “to support brick and mortar businesses that are small and local.”
As a counterpart to Black Friday and Cyber Monday, where big box stores get lots of traffic, Small Business Saturday is always the first Saturday after Thanksgiving.
After shopping be sure to head over to Central Market where Mill Creek’s Youth Advisory Board provides gift-wrapping services from noon to 3:00 pm. They will accept cash and check donations for the Mill Creek Food Bank in exchange for wrapping your gifts.
The Mill Creek Youth Advisory Board volunteers were trained by the gift wrapping experts at University Book Store. These high school students are committed to making a difference in the Mill Creek community.
Mill Creek’s Community Engagement Coordinator Kristin Rasmussen commented, “The Youth Advisory Board wanted to find a way to give back to the families of Mill Creek this holiday season.”
Shopping local on Small Business Saturday ensures the viability of Mill Creek’s business community.
