Motorists take note! Snohomish County’s 35th Avenue SE corridor improvement project requires full-road closures for three weekends in August. Each closure will begin at 7:00 am on the Saturday, and end at 7:00 pm on the Sunday.
These road closures are in addition to Mill Creek's 35th Avenue SE Reconstruction project that closed the road at Penny Creek until December.
Here are the details for each weekend’s full road-closure:
August 4-5, 2018.
- The intersection of 35th Avenue SE and 164th Street SE will be closed.
- A detour route will be available via 156th Street SE, Sunset Road, and 169th Street SE (see map below).
August 11-12 and August 18-19, 2018:
- 35th Avenue SE will be closed from north of 168th Street SE to south of 169th Street SE.
- There will be two detours. Motorists accessing 168th Street SE can detour via 171st Place SE and 31st Drive SE. Those continuing through the corridor or accessing 169th Street SE can detour via 180th Street SE, Sunset Road and 156th Street SE (see map below).
Phase 1 Project Description
Snohomish County is making improvements to the 35th Ave SE corridor between 180th Street SE and 152nd Street SE (Seattle Hill Road).
The corridor is an important north-south route for Snohomish County residents in a rapidly developing area of the county.
The project includes adding bike lanes, center turn lanes, planter strips, sidewalks, and stormwater detention and treatment facilities.
The upgrade will improve traffic flow and help ease congestion during busy morning and afternoon commutes.
The addition of continuous center turn lanes will reduce delays caused by turning vehicles.
The plan also includes dedicated bike lanes and sidewalks on both sides of the road.
