Major crimes detectives with the Snohomish County Sheriff's Office arrested 52 year-old Kevin Patrick Hanrahan, a witness in the 2013 murder of Phillipa Evans-Lopez on Wednesday afternoon, June 13, 2018. He was not arrested in connection to the murder, but for a Department of Corrections escape.
Evans-Lopez, a 20 year-old mother, was found bound and stabbed to death in her Lake Stevens home on June 17, 2013.
Another suspect has been arrested for the murder, but detectives believe Hanrahan has key information related to the case.
Detectives are also seeking assistance from the public regarding the knife used in the murder, a Performance Tool Northwest Trail One Hand Knife. The knife has not been in production since 2011.
The actual knife used in the murder was recovered and logged into evidence, but detectives are seeking a similar model for forensics tests.
Anyone who owns this make and model of knife, is asked to please call the Sheriff’s Office Anonymous Tip Line at 425-388-3845.
