Mill Creek Garden Club finished a summer bonanza series of raffles with its final winner last week.
Thanks to volunteer Donna Werner who generously put together what I call a “go ahead, make my day” raffle basket featuring a great book by NW gardening guru Ciscoe Morris, along with a colorful mug, some tea, and a jar of Girl Meets Dirt preserves. And wait for it…a beautiful Heuchera plant because we are a group of garden-loving women!
Our lucky winner was member Gail Fraioli who was thrilled to get that phone call and have the basket delivered to her doorstep. Second VP Connie Hannam had the pleasure of dropping off the raffle basket AND as is often the case, she toured the winner’s lovely garden.
Gail’s garden is inhabited by some wonderfully whimsical gnomes frolicking in their tiny village. There are definite perks to being the basket delivery gal! Congratulations Gail; sit back, get cozy and enjoy a great read with a nice cup of tea! Oh dear, it sounds like fall is in the air!
With the mask mandate back in place, the Garden Club Board made the sad decision to take our September meeting from face-to-face at Shawn O’Donnell’s to the comfort of our homes via Zoom. Not what anyone had hoped for, but for now it will work: there are great guest speakers booked, techie April Guentz will still spin that raffle wheel in search of the lucky winner, and we will be able to chat, laugh and learn.
Did I mention gardeners are resilient, robust, hardy, and spirited? That’s Mill Creek Garden Club too!
Thank you Donna Werner for putting together this fun basket. We love our volunteers! Photo courtesy of Mill Creek Garden Club.
