Jackson High School girls tennis: Jackson 7, Mariner 0

The Everett Herald reported that the Timberwolves beat Mariner High School 7-1 on Friday, March 16th.

Kelly Corbett, Zita Dare, Maddie Haugen, and Melanie Mortensen all won their singles matches.

The doubles teams of Qunn Michael and Lily Jacobsen, Hari Kim and Anna Smith, Aleja Leon-Guerroro and Jasmine Nguon, Sarah Kim and Anna Hong all beat their opponents as well.

The Jackson High School girls tennis team is now 1-0 in the league and 1-0 overall this year.

Jackson High School baseball: Lake Stevens 7, Jackson 1

Aaron Lommers of the Everett Herald reported that the Vikings beat the Timberwolves Friday, March 16th.

Jackson High School lead 1-0 after the first inning, but Lake Stevens scored in each of the next four innings while keeping Jackson's hitters scoreless.

It was a tough loss for the Timberwolves as they had a great season last year with a second place finish at the 4A state championship.

The Timberwolves are now 0-1 for the season.

Jackson High School gets new softball coach

David Krueger of the Everett Herald reported that Kyle Peacocke has taken over as the Jackson High School softball coach. Peacocke moved from Everett High School to take over Mike Moran’s successful program. Moran is starting a new softball program at Marysville Getchell High School, which is much closer to his home.

Moran enjoyed being the Jackson High School’s coach, but the excitement of starting up a new program and the new five-minute commute enticed him to move.

Jackson High School Girl's Basketball Team Gets Fourth at State

The Everett Herald reported that the Jackson girls’ fourth place finish at the 4A state championship tournament this year is their best result ever.  The Timberwolves previous best was eighth place in 2007.

After a disappointing loss to Mount Rainier, 57-39, on March 1st; the Jackson High School girls basketball team came back with a convincing win against Eastlake, 62-57, on March 2nd.

Jackson High School Girl's Basketball Team Advances to State Quarterfinals

Both the Everett Herald and the Seattle Times reported on the Timberwolves’ 50-37 victory over Kentwood on Saturday. Jackson High School’s fifth-ranked girl’s basketball team goes on to the state 4A quarterfinals at the Tacoma Dome on Thursday, March 1st. They play Mount Ranier High School at 10:30 AM.

Jackson High School Boy's Basketball Team Advances to State Quarterfinals

The Seattle Times and the Everett Herald both reported that the Jackson High School boy’s basketball team defeated Federal Way 50 to 45 in Friday’s state 4A regional playoffs at Kent-Meridian High School. The Timberwolves advance to the State quarterfials and will play Union High School at the Tacoma Dome on Thursday, March 1st at 7:30 PM.
