Mill Creek Police Department seeks Citizen Patrol volunteers

Mill Creek Police Department is actively recruiting Mill Creek residents for their Citizens Patrol program. They have joined with the Lynnwood Police Department to offer this specialized training to Mill Creek residents. Training begins in Lynnwood on April 8, 2014.

Fire District 7 Firefighters participated in annual Scott Firefighter Stair Climb in honor of 13 year old Colton Matter

On March 9, 2014, seven firefighters from Snohomish County Fire District 7 will race up 69 floors of the Columbia Center in downtown Seattle to benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. The Scott Firefighter Stair Climb features firefighters as they climb 1,311 steps in full bunker gear.

On March 9, 2014, seven firefighters from Snohomish County Fire District 7 raced up 69 floors of the Columbia Center in downtown Seattle to benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. The annual Scott Firefighter Stair Climb features firefighters from all over the world as they climb 1,311 steps in full bunker gear.

This year’s climb is especially important to us,” said firefighter and team captain Bill Ekse, who is participating in the event for his 16th year. “We will be leading the way for Colton Matter, a young man in our community we’ve been climbing in honor of since 2010. Two weeks after we complete the firefighter climb, Colton will be participating in the public stair climb.

Buffalo Park is the name of Mill Creek’s newest park

A majority of the Mill Creek City Council voted to approve Buffalo Park as the name for Mill Creek’s newest park at their March 4, 2014, regular meeting. Mill Creek’s Parks and Recreation Board selected Buffalo Park as the new park’s name out of the 66 names suggested.

March 23, 2015, update.

The City of Mill Creek has set the date and time for the official grand opening of Buffalo Park to be Friday, April 24, 2015, at 3 pm.

Mill Creek's newest park is nearing completion. The remaining work includes final construction of the restroom/shelter building, final landscaping, and installation of picnic tables, benches, BBQs and the water fountain.

Charles Simontacchi, 1946 - 2013

Charles Simontacchi, 67, of Tucson, AZ passed away on December 25th, 2013.

Mill Creek resident of 21 years, Charles Simontacchi, 67, passed away on December 25th, 2013 in Tucson, AZ.

He was born on April 2nd, 1946 in San Rafael, CA to the late Anthony and Jean Simontacchi. Charles graduated from Sir Francis Drake High School in 1964. He served in the United States Navy from 1965-1969. He graduated from UC Berkeley and received a degree in electrical engineering in 1978.

He was married to Virginia Simontacchi in 1985.

Charles had a love for baseball and played as a pitcher from Little League through freshman year of college.
