Do you know an outstanding educator or educational program making a difference in your community? Share their successes with the rest of Washington state by sending in a nomination for KCTS 9's 22nd Annual Golden Apple Awards for Excellence in Education.

Any person contributing time or services in Washington state schools from pre K through grade 12 can be nominated. Teachers, administrators, school staff and volunteers, specific education or community programs, and local businesses are all eligible for nomination. Students, parents, teachers and community members can all submit nominations.

State Patrol Detectives seek witnesses

The Washington State Patrol is seeking witnesses to a car vs. motorcycle serious injury collision that took place on January 25, 2013.

The Washington State Patrol Criminal Investigation Division (C.I.D.) is investigating a car vs. motorcycle serious injury collision that took place on January 25, 2013.  The collision occurred about 4:13 p.m. in the right lane of southbound I-5 at milepost 180 in Mountlake Terrace.  The motorcycle was slowing down for traffic when a Honda Prelude made a lane change and collided into it from the rear.

Detectives are seeking additional witnesses to the collision and any event leading up to it.  If you saw or heard anything, or know someone that did, please call C.I.D. Detective Charles Sletten at (360) 654-1144.

36th Annual Washington State Patrol-Kiwanis Youth Law Enforcement Career Camp now accepting applications

Applications are currently being accepted for the 36th Annual Washington State Patrol-Kiwanis Youth Law Enforcement Career Camp to be held at the Washington State Patrol Academy in Shelton from July 7 through July 13, 2013.

Washington State high school juniors and seniors with an interest in law enforcement as a career will have an opportunity to spend a week this summer learning about the roles and job opportunities within law enforcement.

Applications are currently being accepted for the 36th Annual Washington State Patrol-Kiwanis Youth Law Enforcement Career Camp to be held at the Washington State Patrol Academy in Shelton from July 7 through July 13, 2013.
