It’s Time To Cleanse – The Why & How of Simple Home Cleansing

Our bodies have an amazing ability to cope with living in a world that is not as clean as we would like it to be, and you can support your body to eliminate stored toxins and to rejuvenate your liver (the janitor that cleans up the toxic mess in your body) by participating in a seasonal cleanse.

Let’s face it, our world is not as pristine as we would like it to be, and we are all exposed to toxins on a daily basis. Depending on your diet and lifestyle choices some are exposed more than others.

If you eat conventional farmed foods including fruits, veggies, meat, dairy and eggs that are grown with chemicals instead of choosing organic varieties then your body has some level of toxins stored in the tissues. Even if you eat mostly organic foods you are exposed to toxins from other sources.

But it’s not just the foods we eat that create toxins, poor water quality, environmental toxins, household cleansers, body care products all add to our toxic load. In addition negative emotions such as stress, anger, fear, worry and guilt create toxicity as well.

Good news! Our bodies have an amazing ability to cope with living in a world that is not as clean as we would like it to be, and you can support your body to eliminate stored toxins and to rejuvenate your liver (the janitor that cleans up the toxic mess in your body) by participating in a seasonal cleanse.

Six Simple Ways to Cleanse

For five to seven days try the following: If your diet relies heavily on caffeine, sugar and or alcohol ease into eliminating them by taking several days to slowly remove them from your diet.

  1. Drink plenty of water and start your day with a mug of warm lemon water.
  2. Eliminate the Big 5: all animal products (meat, dairy, eggs); grains containing gluten; sugar; alcohol and caffeine.
  3. Eat plenty of fresh, organic fruits, veggies, whole grains and lentils.
  4. Get adequate rest; rise by 6 AM and be in bed by 10 PM
  5. Take a media break. Shut down all computers, turn off the phone, no texting, facebook or TV from 8 PM – 7 AM.
  6. Take an Epsom Salt bath in the evening.

Taking a few days to simplify your diet and lifestyle will reset your digestive fire, recharge your liver and leave you feeling energized and lighter in body and spirit.
