Seattle Area Cup Tennis announced that the Mill Creek Tennis Club’s team won the 2012-2013 Emerald Cup championship earlier this month.

The Emerald Cup is a Puget Sound women’s tennis league comprised of more than 15 tennis clubs from the Boeing Employees Tennis Club in the south, to the Silver Lake Club in the north.

Team doubles matches were played every week from September 7, 2012 to March 8, 2013.

The Mill Creek Tennis Club team took first place by accumulating 51.75 points during the season. The Mill Creek Tennis Club team had a 17-1-3 record (win-loss-tie) over the course of the season.

The Boeing Employees Tennis Club team took second place by accumulating 44.25 points and the Amy Yee Seattle Tennis Center 1 team took third place with 43.5 points.

According to the Mill Creek Tennis Club’s April 2013 newsletter, “The team featured a roster of only 8 core players, but the team bonded together and worked hard to put together an outstanding season.”

The regular team members were Fran French (captain), Bridget Parsons (co-captain), Jennifer Box, Lynn Casey, Jean Chinn, Veronica Durham, Sue Gleeson, Archana Kumar. Tina Nef, Rebecca Nguyen, and Avani Vimawala subbed in when the team was short-handed.

This same team won the lower level Evergreen Cup championship last year. The team hopes to move up to the Classic Cup level next year.
