If you've spent any time in Mill Creek Town Center over the last couple of years you may have noticed a group of moms with little ones in strollers working out together. This is the highly successful business Stroller Strides®.
Jami Ray purchased Mill Creek's Stroller Strides® business in July 2010. Jami had been a Stroller Strides® member with the previous owner since her daughter was six months old.
Jami said, “I was there practically every day. It gave me a place to be while my husband was at work, a place to workout and regain my pre-baby body with my little one in tote, and a great network of other mothers who were going through the same changes that motherhood brings us."
Stroller Strides® is a total fitness program that moms can do with their babies. It includes power walking and intervals of strength and body toning exercises using exercise tubing, the stroller and the environment. Taught by certified and specially trained fitness instructors, it is a great workout for any level of exerciser. Stroller Strides® instructors weave songs and activities into the routine designed to entertain and engage baby, while moms are led through a series of exercises specific to her role as mom.
This unique program also provides moms with the opportunity to meet other moms, engage in playgroups with their babies, and to form lasting friendships. Stroller Strides® is designed to give mothers the "Strength for Motherhood!"
Stroller Strides® offers several class formats, which can be taught outdoors or in a variety of unique indoor settings.
Stroller Strides® is currently meeting inside for the Winter at the Alderwood Boys & Girls Club, M-F from 9:30-10:30am. On Saturdays they meet at the Mill Creek Town Center from November to April. Starting April 1st, 2013, they will be holding classes back outside at the Mill Creek Town Center every day of the week.

Plum Mom's Club:
Another aspect of Jami's business is the Plum Mom's Club. It is a free to join and you do not have to be a Stroller Strides® member to be a Plum Mom. By becoming a member you will build a tight community of moms to share advice, tips and most importantly laughter. Support and connect with other moms through innovative and creative playgroups, entertaining moms' night outs, and Mommies with a Mission activities. Plum Moms participate in the March of Dimes walk, Trunk or Treat Event, Relay for Life, The Big Climb- Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, and have done multiple community events at Whole Foods Market Lynnwood. Also every November they have a canned food drive for both the Mill Creek and Lynnwood Food Banks. Mommies with a Mission making a stronger and healthier community!
When asked what she likes best about her job, Jami said “My favorite part of my job is helping mothers feel strong and beautiful in a time in their life where they might not feel like it. Watching them connect with their babies while instilling a healthy lifestyle for their children is extremely rewarding. The program is amazing and it has never felt like a job!”
Jami's newest program is Body Back®.
Body Back® is a results-based workout designed specifically for moms. Whether they just had a baby or had a baby twenty years ago, it will help any mom get her body back. Most importantly, it will help moms unlock their personal possibilities in an inspiring and powerful environment.
Body Back® runs in eight week personalized sessions proven to lose one-two pounds per week with drop-in rates available. This program includes fitness assessments, food journal with meal planning, individualized goal setting, weekly weigh-in's, online support/coaching and two group workouts per week.
Classes are: M/W 7-8pm Swedish Mill Creek and 7:30-8:30am Tri Way Grange Mill Creek. There is an early morning session from 6-7am Tues/Thurs at Mill Creek's Community Room (City Annex Building).

This class combines Barre, Ballet, and Pilates. This newest challenging class format has the pre and post natal body in mind! Great for cross training or strength training, firing muscles in a brand new way for long lean muscles. Classes coming Spring 2013!
Fit4Baby® is a program designed to strengthen the body for all the changes it will experience during pregnancy. The class includes cardio, strength, flexibility and balance training. Fit4Baby® is designed to accommodate all stages of pregnancy and various fitness levels. These classes are for moms only. Childcare may be provided at some locations. Be sure to seek your physician's approval before starting any exercise program. Classes coming in Spring of 2013!
