Final November 2nd General Election results certified

The Snohomish County Canvassing board certified the 2021 General Election results on Tuesday, November 23rd. Mill Creek is getting at least two new city councilmembers. A machine recount was triggered for one very close city council race.

The Snohomish County Canvassing board certified the results of the November 2, 2021, General Election on Tuesday, November 23rd.

The results are in and Mill Creek is getting at least two new city councilmembers.

Newcomers Melissa Duque and Connie Allison beat incumbents Adam Morgan and Benjamin Briles respectively.

Incumbents Stephanie Vignal and John Steckler were easily reelected, but Brian Holtzclaw only leads newcomer Eric J. Cooke by 15 votes or about 0.3%, which triggered a recount for this race.

Under state law, an automatic hand recount of ballots is triggered when the final margin between two candidates is less than 0.25%, and a machine recount is mandated for margins between 0.25% and 0.5%.

The canvassing board is expected to finish the recount and post their findings on Friday, December 10th.

According to the Snohomish County Auditor, the ballot count was fairly low so far this year at 36% for Snohomish County. Mill Creek fared a bit better with 39% returned ballots.

District 1

  • Nate Nehring (Republican) - 25,863 votes, 70%
  • Nicole Ng-A-Qui (Democrat) - 10,914 votes, 30%

District 4

  • Jared M. Mead (Democrat) - 21,689 votes, 61%
  • Brenda Carrington (Republican) - 13,643 votes, 39%

District 5

  • Sam Low (Republican) - 25,381 votes, 61%
  • Brandy Donaghy (Democrat) - 16,474 votes, 39%

City of Mill Creek

Council Position 1

  • John Steckler - 3,559 votes, 96%
  • WRITE-IN - 147 votes, 4%

Council Position 2

  • Nicholas Swett - 1,598 votes, 33%
  • Stephanie Vignal - 3,213 votes, 67%

Council Position 3

  • Benjamin Briles - 2,212 votes, 46%
  • Connie Allison - 2,620 votes, 54%

Council Position 4

  • Eric J. Cooke - 2,383 votes, 49.71%
  • Brian Holtzclaw - 2,398 votes, 50.02%
  • WRITE-IN - 13 votes, 0.27%

  • Melissa Duque - 2,454 votes, 50.54%
