Dyann Arthur has been a resident of Mill Creek since 1997. In 2009 she and her husband Rick, who live in Evergreen, founded a 501(c)(3) non-profit music organization “MusicBox Project” and in 2009 spent seven months collecting field recordings documenting women musicians all over the country.

This extensive work is housed at the Library of Congress, and now will be available as part of Southern Folklife Collection at UNC Chapel Hill, NC and The Blues Archives at Ole Miss, MS.

Two other local Mill Creek residents Mary Kay Voss and Chris Ferguson serve on the Board of Directors for MusicBox Project.

Arthur is committed to helping increase the visibility of women musicians, believing that an important part of the picture to help women achieve their goals is being able to see themselves in the mirror of their contemporaries.

A lifelong musician herself, Arthur earned her degree from the well known Berklee College of Music in Boston.

For the last several months she’s been busy producing, directing and will be performing in a tribute show “WOMEN MAKING MUSIC” to benefit the non-profit Tim Noah Thumbnail Theater in Snohomish.

Arthur is very happy and proud of the women participating in this event, “we’ve got a line-up of two dozen really talented and generous musicians (including Rick Arthur and Chris Ferguson); half of which are women, not just singing but playing a wide variety of instruments. They’ll showcase songs of some of the most iconic women performers and composers of our age. Many of these women are becoming part of the mix at the theater for the first time, stretching the boundaries of the traditional make up of performers there.”

“The shows have something for every one of all ages, and set a great example of what’s possible with some effort and dedication. Even my artist sister Denise LeBlanc helped out with the promotional poster original artwork which she designed and donated. Denise was the featured artist a number of years ago here in Mill Creek at our annual 'Arts Alive' event.”
