The first 200 people to donate a non-perishable food item to the Mill Creek Food Bank will receive an autographed photo of Mama Blue.
The legendary Mama Blue has been a Seahawks season ticket holder since game one and in January 1999 became the first Seahawks fan to be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
Mama Blue raised the 12th Man Flag before the September 9, 2007 game with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The Heart of Rock & Roll Espresso is a coffee bar and drive thru serving the North Mill Creek/South Everett/Silver Lake area and is located at 13212 Bothell Everett Highway in Mill Creek.
As one of the Mill Creek Food Bank’s main sponsors, The Rotary Club of Mill Creek has been busy lining up local businesses to hold food drives. Barbara Athanas, Rotary Club of Mill Creek representative, said their October 3rd – 5th food drive at the 132nd Street SE Fred Meyer was very successful.
The City of Mill Creek has also been busy supporting the Mill Creek Food Bank. The City’s recent Document Shredding Day was free, but participants were encouraged to bring donations. Councilmember Donna Michelson, the shredding event organizer, said the Mill Creek Food Bank collected 700 pounds of food and over $1,200 in cash at the event.
The Mill Creek Food bank was opened in April 2012 at Jackson High School as a result of a student initiative. The Everett School District, the Rotary Club of Mill Creek, the Mill Creek Business Association, the City of Mill Creek, and the Volunteers of America Everett Food Bank worked together to make the students’ idea a reality.
The Mill Creek Food Bank recently relocated from their temporary location at Jackson High School to a site just south of Mill Creek.
