Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit (MCU) detectives and Collision Investigation Unit (CIU) detectives are investigating a fatal crash following an early morning shooting and pursuit.
At 12:45 am on Thursday, September 10, 2020, deputies responded to reports of 15-20 shots fired at an apartment complex in the 14800 block of Admiralty Way in Lynnwood.
Deputies responded to the area and located a vehicle matching the suspect vehicle description fleeing from the area at a high rate of speed. They attempted to make a traffic stop on the vehicle, but the suspect accelerated and a pursuit was initiated near the 13900 block of Ash Way. The pursuit continued south on Ash Way to 164th Street and onto I-5 southbound.
The suspect vehicle exited the freeway at NE 145th Street and was traveling approximately 90 MPH in the oncoming lane of traffic so deputies terminated the pursuit.
Shortly after, the suspect vehicle crashed near 36th Ave NE and NE 145th Street in Lake Forest Park.
One of the occupants in the suspect vehicle, an adult male, was located deceased at the scene of the crash. A second suspect fled from the scene on foot. A K-9 track to locate that suspect was unsuccessful.
The suspect vehicle is confirmed stolen.
MCU detectives found evidence of at least 40 shots fired and several bullets striking the apartment complex. It is unknown what led up to the shooting, but detectives believe a second vehicle was involved in the shooting. The roadway between 148th Street SW between Admiralty Way and 35th Street remains closed while detectives investigate.
CIU detectives remain on scene at the crash near NE 145th Street. The roadway is currently closed and expected to remain closed for several more hours while detectives investigate.
