The National Audubon Society invites birdwatchers and people with backyard bird feeders to participate in the longest-running citizen science survey - the annual Audubon Christmas Bird Count (CBC). Arlington Fire Chief Stedman selected as preferred candidate For Snohomish County Fire District 1 Chief

Arlington Fire Chief Bruce Steadman was selected as the preferred candidate for new Snohomish County Fire District 1 chief by the board on Tuesday, August 22nd. He will become chief of the new South Snohomish County Fire & Rescue agency when it is formed on October 1st.

Local gymnasts win Level Five, 2015 State Championship

A group of local girls, who train at Cascade Elite Gymnastics in Mountlake Terrace, took home the state title with a team score of 114.325.

On Sunday, May 3rd, Pierce College in Lakewood, WA, was filled with young hopeful level five gymnasts. Teams from all over the state were putting forth their best qualifiers in an effort to win a state championship.

The bus was returning to Shoreline from Mount Vernon with the boys’ basketball team.

This October, prepare to experience horror on another level, as the Nile Shriners present Haunted Nightmare at the Nile, their fourth annual haunted trail on the shores of Lake Ballinger. Billed as “Seattle’s Only Haunted Golf Corpse,” the Nile Shriners remain committed to producing one of the best haunted attractions in the state. A partnership last year with the Haunted Nightmare acting troupe (est. 2009) took the scares to another level.

Two unrelated fires in Mountlake Terrace

No one was injured in two unrelated residential fires that kept firefighters busy in Mountlake Terrace on Monday afternoon, April 22, 2013. Snohomish County Fire District 1 handled both fires.

No one was injured in two unrelated residential fires that kept firefighters busy in Mountlake Terrace on Monday afternoon, April 22, 2013.

The first fire was reported around 2:30 p.m. at a home in the 4500 block of 224th Pl. SW. A passerby reported flames coming from the back deck. Firefighters had the fire under control in less than 10 minutes.

The second fire was reported about 4:45 p.m. in a detached garage at a home in the 23300 block of 53rd Ave. W. Firefighters could see a column of black smoke as they approached the home. The garage was engulfed in flames and torched five tall evergreen trees near the structure. The fire also burned a fence and damaged a storage shed on a neighboring property.
